A Typical Day As A Postpartum Doula

A typical visit is centered on creating a home environment that feels joyful, calm, and deeply supportive of recovery. I bring a quiet, positive productivity that lifts the entire family while ensuring the mother’s only priorities are rest, healing, and bonding with her baby.

My support typically includes:

  • Mental health check-ins for both parents, with support and referrals as needed

  • Physical recovery check-ins for mom, with guidance and referrals as appropriate

  • Normalizing what to expect at each stage of the postpartum period

  • Private session to witness, process, and document the mother’s birth story and discuss on-going support needs if appropriate

  • Preparing nourishing homemade meals throughout the day: a mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and family dinner

  • Preparing an early-morning breakfast for the following day

  • Delivering water, homemade postpartum broths, and teas to keep mom hydrated and soothed

  • Thoughtfully selecting ingredients that support tissue repair, reduce inflammation, restore blood loss, boost mood, promote lactation, and provide sustained energy

  • Creating space for one independent self-care activity for each parent (such as a nap, workout, shower, or mom’s group), while I care for the baby

  • Supporting all feeding methods, including breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, and formula preparation

  • Sterilizing all feeding and humidifier equipment

  • Offering guidance on newborn care and sleep as needed

  • Tidying and stocking the nursery, changing areas, and overnight feeding stations, and leaving the kitchen spotless
